A resident of Gevgelija faces a potential fine exceeding 140,000 euros following a criminal appeal submitted by his relatives, OVR Gevgelija. The appeal was lodged on August 19, 2026, concerning the grounds of doubt regarding the basis of a criminal case that was allegedly not fully disclosed during service. According to the Ministry of Interior, between November 7, 2025, and March 3, 2026, the individual, while employed as a working assistant at a bank exposition in Gevgelija, misappropriated funds totaling 4,920,000 dinars and 63,350 euros.
These amounts were entrusted to him in the course of his duties. The misappropriation occurred in a manner that allowed him access to the debit accounts of two beneficiaries without their knowledge or authorization, resulting in material damage to the bank. Separately, another crime appeal was reported involving two Turkish nationals accused of extorting over 43 kilograms of gold from a guest over a six-year period.
