25 YEARS OF BLOOD SACRIFICE OF “KARPALAK” – Stojanče Angelov with the sacrifice for the meeting in which Macedonia lost 10 heroes

During a ceremony marking the four-hundredth anniversary of a significant event in modern Macedonian history, Stojanče Angelov, commander of the rescue and salvage team, paid tribute to the fallen defenders of Karpalak. Angelov recounted details from the commemorative gathering, reflecting on the profound meaning of the sacrifice made by Macedonian freedom fighters and paying specific homage to ten Macedonian heroes. The remembrance highlighted the enduring commitment of those who served, drawing parallels between historical sacrifice and contemporary acts of duty.

Angelov shared a specific recollection detailing an operational event that underscores the dedication of specialized units. He recounted that in late July 2001, special forces from the Tiger units were dispatched to Tivat following a request for assistance. These units were tasked with retrieving a heavily armored police contingent.

The operation involved Goran Zdravkovski, who was noted as a member of the state reserve equipped with specialized weaponry. The deployment included twenty-two Tiger personnel and four combat-ready “Herminin” vehicles, alongside one additional support vehicle. These accounts, Angelov stated, served as a powerful reminder of the commitment demonstrated by the nation’s defenders.

The ceremony served not only to honor the sacrifice of the defenders of Karpalak but also to reaffirm the ongoing legacy of dedication within the Macedonian community.
