The incident, considered the bloodiest massacre of soldiers during the 2001 conflict, occurred on August 8, 2001. At approximately 9:30 a.m., a convoy belonging to the Plav caravan was ambushed in Tetovo. The convoy consisted of two buses (Hermine) and a Kombi.
During the ambush, ten soldiers from the Plav detachment were killed, and three others were wounded. The commemoration serves to recall the events of this historical tragedy. The dedication of memorial markers underscores the enduring memory of the personnel who were killed during the engagement.
These observances highlight the sacrifice made by the soldiers involved in the 2001 period. The planned installations in both Tetovo and Plav are intended to serve as permanent acknowledgments of the lives lost and the military service rendered over these past years.
