A policeman employed by the Department for Social Security of the SRS in Skopje has been questioned regarding allegations of misappropriating funds and facilitating the unauthorized removal of vehicles from the JPP “City Parking” depot. According to the prosecutor’s office handling the prosecution of organized crime and corruption, the policeman is accused of abusing his official position between April and July of this year. The investigation suggests that this misconduct led to the alleged plunder of at least 85,500 dinars from the state budget.
Investigators established that the policeman was present at the depot when vehicles belonging to the accused’s drivers were taken. Furthermore, it is alleged that fines that should have been processed conventionally were instead paid directly to a POS terminal. To verify the transaction details, recording equipment was attached to the scene.
The ongoing investigation, overseen by the prosecution, centers on the systemic misuse of authority by the police officer. The focus remains on establishing the full scope of the financial irregularities. The department’s actions have drawn significant attention from authorities, with the prosecution aiming to clarify how the policeman’s access enabled these financial discrepancies.
The inquiry continues to examine the procedural failures that allowed the alleged unlawful appropriation of state funds.
