The SCM calls for the protection of measures against high temperatures

In response to periods of extremely high temperatures, the Union of Trade Unions of Macedonia has issued advisories urging workers to prioritize safety and health precautions in the workplace. The union emphasizes the critical need for implementing appropriate protective measures to mitigate risks associated with intense heat. Workers are strongly advised to pay close attention to established safety and health standards while working.

Furthermore, the union recommends that employers consider reducing or temporarily suspending outdoor work activities during the hottest hours of the day. It stresses that all necessary means and measures designed to safeguard the lives and health of employees must be fully activated under these challenging conditions. The advisory specifically highlights the heightened vulnerability of certain worker demographics.

Particular attention must be paid to the health and safety of the elderly, individuals with chronic illnesses, and pregnant workers, whose well-being is deemed critically important during periods of high ambient temperatures. In line with guidance from health institutions, the union underscores that proactive safety measures are paramount. Adherence to these protective guidelines is essential to prevent heat-related illnesses and ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.

The consistent implementation of these protective measures is necessary to manage the risks posed by sustained periods of high temperatures, thereby ensuring the utmost care for the workforce.
