Following severe weather that impacted the capital city and caused significant damage, resulting in the destruction of numerous green areas and trees, Skopje Municipality initiated a revitalization effort today. As part of this initiative, 60 new trees were planted in the city park. Skopje Mayor, Orce Gjorgievski, announced that following yesterday’s large-scale clean-up operation, the planting of 60 new saplings of linden and ash began today.
He stated, “We will not allow the consequences to remain visible in our city. After yesterday’s major clean-up, we started planting 60 new saplings of linden and ash even today. They will bring more shade, cleaner air, and new life to the park’s green structure.
And this is only the beginning! We will enhance the city park with even more trees, greenery, and new features.”
The municipality’s efforts represent a sustained commitment to urban greening. Residents and officials are working to restore the city’s natural landscape.
A dedicated photogallery documenting the progress is expected to be available late this week, showcasing the ongoing restoration work. The city plans to continue this effort over an extended time period to fully rejuvenate the public spaces.
