The Minister of Health, Hristo Miskovski, has announced that the selection of a site for a major new clinical center is anticipated by the end of the year. This facility is central to the broader capital health investment strategy. Regarding the potential site, Miskovski addressed recent reports concerning the reconstructed Traumatology Department at the University Clinical Hospital “Sveti Naum Ohridski” in Skopje.
He confirmed that discussions are actively taking place with the current landowners regarding this primary location. However, the Minister also noted that an alternative site nearby is under consideration. Miskovski emphasized that the planning process is comprehensive, stating that the department is not solely focused on one option.
“Yes, there are talks. We are also discussing with the landowners. We have a second option nearby the parcel.
It is normal; we never settle on one option alone,” Miskovski stated. He stressed the need for thorough due diligence before committing to a final plan. The Minister explained that the ultimate decision on the optimal location requires time to fully assess the surrounding area.
He stated that the goal is to wait until the site can be comprehensively surveyed before developing a finalized and robust plan for the new health facility. This methodical approach aims to ensure that the resulting infrastructure meets the high standards required for a major national health investment.
