The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Minerals Resources reported on July 10th, coinciding with the Ministry’s tenth anniversary, detailing the current status and future development of the nation’s energy infrastructure. According to the ministry, hydropower electricity production showed a depletion rate of 76% over the past year. In contrast, the sector’s reliance on renewable sources is increasing, with wind power production showing a growth rate of approximately 10%.
To ensure stable and secure supply, the current accumulator capacity stands at about 80%, providing a substantial reserve for managing peak demand periods. Looking ahead, significant investments are underway to bolster the energy mix. The second phase of the Bogdanci wind park is currently under construction and is projected to achieve an installed capacity of 50 MW within the coming year.
Furthermore, preparations are actively progressing for the development of Botoe 2 and Botoe 3 facilities. These updates highlight a strategic shift in energy generation capacity. The combination of robust energy storage and the planned expansion of wind assets is intended to support reliable national power supply while diversifying away from seasonal fluctuations in traditional energy sources.
The ministry emphasized these developments as key components of the nation’s long-term energy security plan.
