Oleksii Babenko, the director of a major Ukrainian drone producer, addressed accusations of price gouging following large-scale inspections that resulted in seizures at his residence, the company premises, and those of his family members. Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv more than twelve hours after the operation, Babenko confirmed that the State Inspectorate of Ukraine had seized approximately 70 items. These seizures included property belonging to “Viriy Industries,” as well as premises associated with his business partners and family residences.
Babenko stated that the allegations of overpricing were noteworthy, particularly given that his drones are positioned as being among the most affordably priced in the market. He suggested that the accusations might initially appear as an attempt to undermine his business operations. However, he maintained that the situation was more complex than a simple attack.
The inspection actions have drawn significant attention to the operations of his Ukrainian company. While the state authorities conducted extensive searches across multiple locations, Babenko addressed the narrative surrounding the seizures. The scale of the finds—spanning multiple related properties—has fueled public discussion regarding the nature of the investigations and the validity of the charges leveled against the Ukrainian manufacturer.
