Law enforcement agencies are initiating enhanced controls and utilizing radar technology to monitor the operation of electric tricycles. This increased enforcement effort aims to ensure compliance with recently updated safety regulations governing these vehicles. Under the revised legal framework, several key restrictions are now in effect.
Specifically, the maximum permissible speed for electric tricycles has been capped at 20 kilometers per hour. Furthermore, the operation of these tricycles by minors is entirely prohibited. Additionally, carrying two passengers on a single tricycle is strictly forbidden.
The regulatory changes are accompanied by significant financial penalties. Fines for infractions related to tricycle operation have been increased, with penalties reaching up to 275 euros. In terms of traffic enforcement, police are implementing immediate confiscation measures under specific circumstances.
These measures include instances where a minor is operating the vehicle, when the posted speed limit is exceeded, or if the operator is under the influence of alcohol. Confiscation is also mandated if the vehicle is found to be transporting a child, regardless of other mitigating factors. These measures underscore the authorities’ commitment to improving safety standards for all road users.
