According to the National Bank, the volume of electronic payments continues to rise. During the first quarter of the year, the total number of electronic transactions saw a 21.9% increase compared to the preceding quarter, while the total paid amount grew by 23%. Mobile applications emerged as the leading method for these electronic transactions, accounting for 72.8% of the total volume.
This segment demonstrated robust growth, marking an annual increase of 25.9%, highlighting the increasing dominance of mobile payment technology. Furthermore, in the first quarter of 2026, payments initiated by citizens increased by 10.3%, with the overall number of payments and the paid amount rising by 14.6%. Positive momentum was also observed in traditional payment methods.
Specifically, the number of payments made using payment cards increased by 12.2% over the previous quarter, alongside a 13.6% increase in the net paid amount. Overall, the data indicates a sustained upward trend across various payment channels, confirming the deepening integration of electronic methods into daily commerce.
