The Macedonian authorities from Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and BiH, in a new letter to Brussels, call for radical measures and border blockades

Citizens from North Macedonia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina have submitted a new joint letter to Brussels advocating for significant measures and border blockades concerning the transport associations of North Macedonia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This correspondence was directed to the European Commission, which is scheduled to submit a report by August 10th. The goal of the communication is to compel a positive or unanimous decision regarding the ongoing restrictions on the movement of professional drivers within the Schengen zone.

The joint letter was formally dispatched on June 30th at 8:14 a.m. Neđo Mandić, the president of the International Transport Business Association of Serbia, stated that representatives from the business associations of the four concerned countries are actively engaging with Serbian media outlets. He confirmed that the current situation has undergone a thorough analysis, and an assessment is currently being formulated based on these findings.

The initiative underscores the collective concern among stakeholders in the transport sector regarding the operational hurdles faced by professional drivers. The submission of this new letter aims to prompt immediate and decisive action from EU authorities to address the movement restrictions affecting the Macedonian, Serbian, and Bosnian transport industries.
