Professionals engaged in various sectors, including construction, delivery, and taxi services, are continuing to work in open-air environments despite extreme hot weather conditions. These workers are exposed to direct sunlight and significantly high temperatures. According to reports, the current operational conditions are a direct result of workers implementing established safety limits and protective measures mandated for hot-weather work sites.
Met has issued a call to Ivan Pešovski, the president of the Construction, Industry and Design Syndicate of the Republic of Macedonia (SIGP). The appeal is directed toward construction site inspectors, urging them to remain actively present on the ground. Met specifically requests that inspectors monitor the site to ensure that all workers are receiving adequate protection while performing their duties.
Given the expected high temperatures, which may reach 40 degrees Celsius during the day, the safety concerns surrounding outdoor labor are significant. The focus remains on ensuring that all workers adhere to established protocols to mitigate risks associated with prolonged exposure to intense heat and direct sun while conducting their work. The syndicate’s leadership is being pressed to reinforce oversight mechanisms to guarantee that the necessary safety standards are maintained across all active work zones.
