Aleksandar Nikolovski, the Vicepremier and Minister for Transport, stated that the development of the autopatt connecting Prilep and Bitola represents a significant advancement for the Pelagonija region. He noted that the construction of this strategic roadway, which forms part of the 10D Corridor, is progressing intensively and is expected to substantially improve regional transportation infrastructure. According to Nikolovski, the completion of this improved route will notably reduce travel times, specifically decreasing the journey duration between Skopje and Athens to an estimated 3 to 3.5 hours.
This improved connectivity is anticipated to stimulate economic activity and boost tourism within the region. Speaking via his official Facebook profile, Nikolovski also highlighted that this particular segment is set to become the first interconnected autopatt in Macedonia. He outlined the project’s timeline, stating the goal is to have the initial 10.5 km section operational by the first half of 2027, with plans for further expansion in the future.
