The Ministry of Transport has announced that the old town center of Ohrid is experiencing issues with the maintenance of its structures. Specifically, the Department of Urban Planning and Housing (DIGU) has determined that certain objects within the historic area are non-compliant with previously issued decisions. According to the Ministry, an inspection commission conducted a field assessment at the site located at KP-15972, KO Ohrid 3, within the old town center.
The inspection revealed that the structure in question was not erected or placed in accordance with the official approvals that had been previously reported. In response to these findings of non-compliance, the Department of Urban Planning and Housing intends to proceed with strong administrative removal measures against the unlawful object. This action is being taken to ensure that the preservation and development of Ohrid’s historic center adhere strictly to established urban planning regulations.
The Ministry of Transport emphasized that maintaining the integrity of the urban environment is a primary concern. The administrative removal process will address the discrepancy between the current physical state of the object and the permissions granted by the relevant authorities. This intervention underscores the regulatory oversight exercised by the ministry to safeguard the architectural heritage of the region.
The department confirmed that the enforcement measures will be implemented to bring the property into compliance with all municipal codes.
