Assembly Rejects Interpellation Against Interior Minister Toskofski
Skopje – The North Macedonian Assembly convened on June 24, 2026, at 5:59 pm to consider an interpellation submitted by the Left opposition party directed at Minister for Internal Affairs Pancho Toskofski. The motion was ultimately rejected following a vote, with 58 deputies voting against and 19 in favor. The interpellation centered on the performance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the overall security situation within the Republic of North Macedonia.
Spokesman for the Left, Amar Meciov, presented the argument that the country was “not in danger due to the Ministry of Internal Affairs” and that the existing protective apparatus “does not function as it should.”
The debate focused on assessing the current state of affairs in Macedonia, with critics asserting that the situation was not meeting acceptable standards. The motion suggested that the Ministry of Internal Affairs was failing to adequately address the challenges facing the nation. Ultimately, the assembly did not accept the motion to remove Minister Toskofski from his position.
The vote reflects a significant division within the legislative body regarding the Ministry’s effectiveness and its response to ongoing concerns.
