FALAT MEDICAL SISTERS AT THE CHILDHOOD CLINIC, take measures in advance

Skopje Hospital Faces Staffing Challenges, Temporary Department Merge Implemented

The 1st Children’s Hospital in Skopje is currently experiencing a significant shortage of nurses, according to Director Rizhko Memedy. Speaking to the media, Memedy attributed the issue to a high patient volume originating from across the country. The hospital has been grappling with a high turnover rate among its nursing staff, making it difficult to maintain consistent patient care and effectively manage shift schedules.

As a result, a temporary measure has been implemented: the fusion of the Immunology and Pulmonology A. departments. Memedy clarified that this consolidation is a short-term organizational adjustment designed to address immediate capacity constraints.

“We are seeing a considerable influx of patients requiring care from the entire country,” Memedy stated. “This has created significant challenges in organizing adequate staffing levels.”

Due to the staffing limitations, the hospital is currently operating with patients remaining admitted for extended periods. This situation is a temporary response to the increased demand.

The director emphasized that the department merger is a pragmatic solution while the hospital works to address the underlying shortage of nurses and restore standard operational procedures.
