Former Inspector Dies Following Arson Investigation Closure
The Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed the death of Ljubčo Grnčištanov, one of 35 individuals accused in connection with an arson incident at the Pulse disco in Kičevo. The Prosecutor’s Office announced the closure of the main investigation, currently led by the Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje. Grnčištanov, who held the position of head of the Inspectorate Service within the Directorate for Security and Protection from January 15, 2013, to March 16, 2025, was charged with theft of state secrets alongside the other 34 accused.
The investigation centered around the events at the Pulse venue. Grnčištanov had been operating from a concealed location for approximately 77 days prior to his death. Authorities reported that he was effectively unable to leave the location where he was sheltering.
