Skopje Conference Highlights Practical Transport Solutions
As part of the “Traffic for All – Skopje” conference, organized by “Go Green,” a practical demonstration was conducted to address increasing urban congestion. The initiative aimed to showcase alternative transport options within the city. Following initial discussions regarding a five-minute speech from the Vardar district to Skopje’s city center, organizers opted for a tangible demonstration.
The tour began with a standard city bus operating on the Karpoš 4 – Vardar route, utilizing a scheduled service from the railway station to Skopje. The journey, completed on a Sunday, took approximately five minutes, with the bus consistently stopping at its designated location. “Go Green” representatives emphasized the potential benefits of implementing a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system and accelerating rail transport development.
They argued that these changes would discourage reliance on private vehicles and mitigate rising urban congestion, a growing concern in Skopje due to increasing car traffic. The demonstration highlighted a potential solution for efficient public transport within the city.
