Efforts Underway to Restore Trust in Assembly and Ambassadorial Role
The establishment of a specific position aims to foster open communication and rebuild trust within the Macedonian system, according to statements from Assembly President Afrim Gash. Data from the Institute for Democracy indicates a consistently low level of trust within the Assembly, currently at 2.7% annually. Furthermore, anxieties exist that ambassadors are frequently influenced by partisan interests rather than prioritizing the needs of the citizenry. Gash stated that the newly created position is intended to operate at a respectable level, devoid of any personal benefit.
He acknowledged the necessity of addressing the current challenges and suggested prioritizing improved perceptions, alongside potential changes to the electoral system.
