Two Men Face Charges in Kumanovo for Heritage Violations
The State Regulatory Service (SRS) of Kumanovo has initiated a legal case against two individuals, both 52 years old and residents of Kumanovo, for alleged violations related to cultural heritage protection and land usage. The case, originally filed in 2023, centers around accusations of failing to respect protected cultural heritage, unauthorized construction, and operating without proper authorization. The initial investigation began following the identification of a house in Kumanovo as a protected cultural heritage site, subsequently registered by the municipality’s memory archive.
Concerns arose after the demolition of the house, revealing that the investor had constructed a building classified as Category 2 without obtaining necessary approvals from the municipal urban planning sector. According to the SRS’s application, the building was constructed upon state-owned land. A second related case has also been filed concerning an individual’s operation as an authority.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities focusing on ensuring compliance with regulations concerning the protection of cultural heritage and adherence to municipal planning guidelines within Kumanovo.
