Twelve Migrants Found in Overturned Vehicle Following Highway Pursuit in North Macedonia
Skopje, North Macedonia – Police apprehended twelve migrants following a traffic stop and subsequent vehicle rollover on the highway near Petrovec on Wednesday. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVIR) confirmed the incident occurred around 8:00 PM local time. According to police reports, a patrol vehicle observed a vehicle with mismatched registration plates traveling at high speed on the highway.
The driver failed to respond to a request to stop and initiated a pursuit. The vehicle then lost control and overturned near the Mladinovići club, subsequently coming to rest near the village of Blazec within the municipality of Petrovec. During the pursuit, the vehicle collided with a tree, which was left undamaged.
Twelve individuals, identified as migrants, were located inside the vehicle – a Mercedes – at the scene. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the individuals involved. The MVIR has not released further details at this time.
