The UNESCO in Ohrid region has given him a rock for 5 years, so far it hasn’t been put on the black list

The UNESCO World Heritage Committee, during its 48th session in Busan, Republic of Korea, voted to remove the Ohrid Region from the list of World Heritage in Danger. Furthermore, the committee enacted a five-year withdrawal of the decision, which allows time for the recognition of the UNESCO World Heritage sites for protection. The decision was reached by the committee, and the Macedonian delegation, led by Ambassador in Paris Igor Nikolov and accompanied by government officials, expressed satisfaction with the outcome.

According to the delegation, this ruling reflects confidence in the preventive measures that have been implemented. The Macedonian representatives stated their commitment to ongoing efforts, noting that in the coming period, they will continue to implement specific protective measures. These efforts include preparing a cross-border Strategic Assessment to evaluate potential impacts on life within the area.

This decision marks a significant step for the Ohrid region’s conservation status under UNESCO oversight. The withdrawal of the “in Danger” listing provides a crucial window for focused conservation work and continued monitoring of the site’s integrity.
