The Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) has issued a ban on the use of drinking water drawn from the local water supply system. This directive stems from concerns regarding the system’s installation integrity and overall safety. The decision followed a comprehensive sanitary inspection conducted yesterday evening in the village of Vrutok, located in Opština Hostivar.

The inspection was convened by the Chief Prosecutor of OJO Hostivar to assess the safety and quality of the municipal water supply system. The review brought together multiple stakeholders, including representatives from the FVA, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, OJO Hostivar, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During the detailed inspection, which focused on the infrastructure and quality of the potable water, authorities examined the entire process, from the source to the distribution network.

The gathered evidence indicated potential deficiencies within the main line of the water supply. The combined effort of these agencies aimed to ensure public health standards were met for the water provided by the municipality of Hostivar. Following the technical review, the FVA determined that the existing infrastructure did not meet the required safety benchmarks for potable water usage.

Consequently, the agency mandated an immediate cessation of drawing water from the system until necessary repairs and thorough quality assessments can be completed, ensuring the integrity of the entire water supply network.
