The Minister of Health, Sašo Klepovski, stated that an official declaration of an epidemic has not been issued in Gostivar. During his visit to the Gostivar District Hospital, Klepovski confirmed that the cause of the recent increase in patients presenting with stomach problems remains undetermined. He reported that the overall number of patients requiring medical attention has remained stable, showing no significant fluctuation compared to previous days.
The first reports of affected individuals were logged on the night of July 13th, and the patient count has maintained a relatively constant level since then. Currently, over 200 patients are hospitalized awaiting intervention. Klepovski detailed the hospital’s activity over the last 24 hours, noting 100 pediatric interventions and 160 cases managed within the infectious disease department.
He added that the clinic’s general situation remains comparable to previous periods. According to the Minister, the primary factor contributing to the heightened patient load is the accumulation of cases related to gastrointestinal issues. He emphasized that despite the observable increase in stomach-related admissions, the official status in Gostivar is that an epidemic has not been declared.
The consistent reporting of patient numbers suggests that while the strain on services is notable, the situation is being monitored without an immediate declaration of a public health emergency.
