The Institute for Public Health has reported that the municipal water supply network in Gostivar is currently non-functional for both drinking and general technical purposes. Consequently, relevant authorities are advising the public against the use of water drawn from the city supply system. This critical issue was a primary focus during the daily session of the Main Staff for Crisis Management (MK) at the Center for Crisis Management (CUK).
The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Panče Todžkovski. During the session, officials reviewed the current status of the water supply in Gostivar, noting that the situation necessitates immediate and enhanced measures to safeguard public health. In response to the findings, the Main Staff issued directives requiring the Gostivar Municipality to take specific actions.
The municipality has been instructed to propose suitable locations and designate contact persons responsible for establishing temporary distribution points. These points are intended to ensure the supply of technical water for facilities deemed vital to community operation. The advisory issued by public health experts underscores the immediate risk associated with the compromised water infrastructure.
Authorities are urging citizens to adhere strictly to official guidelines regarding the use of alternative sources until the integrity of the main supply network can be fully restored, thereby mitigating risks to community health.
