The fifth edition of the “Prespa Lake” Balkan and Mediterranean film festival concluded recently at the amphitheater in Dojran. The festival, which ran from July 8th to July 15th, culminated in the announcement of the competition winners. The jury, comprised of producers Miroslav Mitic from Serbia, screenwriter and director Elena Venianova from Macedonia, and festival programmer Emily Reschel from France, awarded the Best Film prize.
This accolade went to “Drži se meni,” directed by Mirsin Aritisti of Kipar. The winning film is described as a “coming of age” story that explores the intricate relationship between a father who has been absent for a long period and his daughter-in-law. The production garnered attention for the strong performances delivered by actors Maria Petrova and Christos Pasalis.
Furthermore, the audience recognized the film in the official competition category, citing its emotional sincerity, narrative maturity, and technical skill, particularly highlighting the setting within a remote village near the lake. The festival successfully showcased cinematic talent from the region, drawing attention to the cultural significance surrounding the lake.
