MANAIS TO BE PREPARED FOR THE HOLY NIGHT OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY: Vigil, Liturgy and Free Transport

Orthodox Christians observe a major holiday commemorating the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The celebrations commence on August 27th with an evening liturgy, followed by a vigil. The main observance takes place on the morning of August 28th, when the Divine Liturgy in honor of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary begins at 8:30 a.m.

Devotees begin arriving at the monastery in the early hours of August 27th, with the congregation growing throughout the day of the holiday. Attendees travel from Skopje and its surrounding areas, as well as from Gorna and Dolna Matka. Local residents from Ohrid and its environs are also present, and for those residing in Gorna and Dolna Matka, attending the event is a deeply ingrained tradition.

The services are central to the religious observance. The liturgy marks the theological commemoration of the Annunciation. The Metropolitan of Australia and New Zealand, Nicholas, will preside over the service.
