Children in Skopje were affected by the fires in Kicevo, Studenci and Zeleniko

Smoke has significantly impacted the main urban center of Skopje, leading authorities to issue warnings regarding potential escalation of blazes in surrounding areas. Officials have indicated that the risk of a major fire is anticipated in the regions of Kicevo, as well as in the villages of Studenci and Zeleniko. Emergency response efforts are currently underway, with the Ministry of Interior deploying a helicopter to manage the active fire situations.

According to the fire department, the primary fire threat in the water has been addressed; however, several localized incidents remain active. Specific areas reporting minor blazes include two spots involving grass and low-lying shrubs in the village of Ilinden, as well as areas within the villages of Capaj and Bojane, where shrubbery has sustained burning. The visible smoke plumes have severely reduced visibility across Skopje, a condition documented by cameras situated on a local water tower.

The ongoing coordination between emergency services is focused on containing these multiple points of ignition to prevent the spread of the fire into more populated areas. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, advising residents to remain vigilant regarding potential flare-ups in nearby rural villages.
