The Thessaloniki roundabout will undergo temporary nightly closures starting soon, necessitating significant rerouting for vehicular traffic. This measure is being implemented due to ongoing construction work associated with a new Flyover road structure. The restriction will be in effect nightly, operating from 11:00 PM until 5:00 AM.

Consequently, drivers traveling into or through Thessaloniki, particularly those departing from the Halkidiki region and the Macedonian side of the city, will be required to utilize the established city street network instead of the main roundabout approach. Traffic exiting from the western approaches will be diverted onto Stagira, Grigorij Lambrakis, and Diagoras streets. These thoroughfares will manage the re-routing of traffic flow toward the affected roundabout area.

Authorities anticipate that this diversion may contribute to increased congestion and potential delays, especially during high-traffic periods, such as the Feast of the Dormition of the Virgin when many are leaving the area. Police departments have issued advisories urging all motorists to strictly adhere to temporary signage posted throughout the region. Officials note that channeling this volume of traffic through the city streets is expected to cause considerable slowdowns compared to normal flow.

Drivers are advised to allow for extra travel time when planning journeys in and out of Thessaloniki during the specified hours.
