Water in Gostivar can be used as a tool, but not to drink

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Panče Toskovski, recent investigations into the quality of the water supply in Gostivar have determined specific parameters for its safe use. The Minister stated that while the water is currently suitable for various non-potable household tasks, it is not recommended for consumption or food preparation. Detailed analysis indicates that the water can safely be used for activities such as sprinkling, washing vegetables, and general laundry and domestic cleaning.

However, the findings explicitly advise against its use for drinking purposes or any process involving the preparation of food. Toskovski confirmed that corrective measures are underway to ensure the public receives potable water. He announced that in the coming days, the water system will undergo a thorough flushing process designed to restore the supply to a safe standard for the entire population of Gostivar.

The Minister took the opportunity to express gratitude to the citizens of Gostivar for their patience and understanding during this period. He also acknowledged the expertise of various teams involved in the remediation effort. Specifically, he thanked the professionals from the Water and Sewerage department in Skopje for managing critical technical activities, including the necessary chlorination procedures and the deployment of specialized equipment required to reach this improved phase of water safety.
