Outbound economic traffic data suggests a comparative analysis between Macedonia and Serbia, particularly regarding the service sector. The total outbound traffic from Macedonia to Serbia is reported to be approximately 33 billion euros. Within this total, the contribution from information and production services accounted for 5.2 billion euros, representing about 18% of the overall outbound traffic.
Looking ahead to 2025, Macedonia’s projected outbound traffic is estimated at around 9 billion euros. In this projection, the traffic generated by information, production, and technology services is set at approximately 700 million euros, which constitutes 8% of the total. These figures indicate a disparity when comparing Macedonia’s current service sector performance to Serbia’s established levels.
The data suggests that while Macedonia possesses potential for strong projects and investments, especially within the global information technology sector, there remains a notable gap in this area compared to its regional counterpart. These observations were presented by Marko Chadjed, the President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. The comparison highlights that while the overall economic traffic is significant, enhancing the share of high-value services, measured in the billions of euros, is crucial for maximizing the country’s economic potential.
