Two substantial seizures of cocaine, one in Liberia and another in Italy, have brought renewed attention to the issue of cocaine use in Serbia. In Liberia, authorities seized a large quantity of cocaine valued at $370 million, representing the largest seizure in the country’s history. Simultaneously, in the Italian port of Vado Ligure, a Serbian national was arrested in connection with the discovery of 770 kilograms of cocaine hidden within cargo.
Furthermore, Italian financial police and the king’s court intercepted sixteen packages of cocaine, concealed within bananas originating from Ecuador. Some of these packages were marked with Serbian flags. This additional shipment weighed 800 kilograms and was found shortly after the initial discovery in Vado Ligure.
Regarding the markings, police stated that the presence of a Serbian flag does not constitute proof that the cocaine was brought into Italy from Serbia. The combined incidents highlight the international scope of the trafficking, with significant amounts of cocaine being intercepted in both Liberia and Italy.
