The national flag has been displayed within the chancellery of DUI leader Ali Ahmeti for a period spanning 24 years. According to reports, Ahmeti originally installed the flag at the chancellery upon the founding of the party. The presence of the national flag was noted by Martin Pamer during Ahmeti’s tenure in Austria.
In a statement published on the “Tetova Sot” portal, Ahmeti addressed the display of the flag, linking its placement to historical context and external suggestions. Ahmeti stated that the notion of the state being unitary was influenced by foreign ambassadors during his time in the chancellery. Specifically, he mentioned that while he was residing in his chancellery, foreign ambassadors suggested the placement of the national flag of the state of North Macedonia.
Ahmeti clarified that this action reflected a belief in the historical status of the state as once being unitary. He emphasized that the decision to display the national flag was prompted by the recommendations of these ambassadors while he was operating from the chancellery. This statement frames the enduring presence of the flag within the chancellery as an adherence to a historical understanding of the nation, influenced by international diplomatic input provided to Ahmeti.
