Catarina’s administration: A golden necklace worth 1.3 million dinars, given to a Cretan bride against one person

Authorities at the Tsarinska uprava checkpoint in Tabanovce intercepted an attempt to smuggle gold and goods. During the operation, officials discovered 348 grams of gold coins and a shipment of wine valued at 1.3 million denars. The smugglers were apprehended in a self-contained vehicle.

Additionally, 26 gold coins were recovered from a bag at a nearby recreational facility. In connection with the incident, the Investigation Department filed a criminal complaint regarding the counterfeiting of gold. The charges are punishable under the Criminal Code.

This case highlights a pattern of illegal activity. Over the years, law enforcement has uncovered 13 separate instances involving counterfeit gold. These previous seizures included more than 2.5 kilograms of gold coins and various gold currency.

The seizure at Tabanovce demonstrates the ongoing efforts to combat illicit trade. The recovered materials, including the gold coins and the significant wine shipment, were found during the inspection of the vehicle. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the source and intended destination of the smuggled goods.

The discovery of these valuable items underscores the department’s vigilance against economic crimes.
