Three individuals face prosecution in Gostivar concerning charges related to the destruction of the animal environment and natural resources, stemming from an investigation into a local water incident. The primary accusations are being brought forward by the investigative post of the JPC “Komunalec.”
The defendants—Aratna A. Asani, the technical director of the Technical Department for Works; Leon Nuredini, and the head of the Department for Water Supply, Sewerage, and Construction Works; and Vadedin Derviši—are facing scrutiny over the management of local water systems.
Specifically, the core concern revolves around the sewage water within the overflow room of the network that supplies potable water to the Gostivar Municipality and adjacent rural areas. The legal proceedings have placed the three accused at the center of the controversy. They were summoned on June 25th to the trial, where they were tasked with placing three flood pumps into a canal experiencing a 1.5-meter overflow.
The case highlights significant public interest regarding the integrity of the municipal water infrastructure.
