The Ministry of Interior (MUP) has announced the apprehension of Aleksandar Lazarov, a 41-year-old man wanted for drug trafficking. Lazarov was taken into custody in the city of Kochani after having evaded police authorities. The MUP stated that on July 14, 2026, police officers from the Investigative Service (SVR) in Skopje successfully apprehended Lazarov.
The operation was conducted following the receipt of operational intelligence concerning an individual for whom the Ministry of Interior had issued both a central and an international wanted notice. According to the MUP release, the warrant for Lazarov was issued by the Basic Court of Kochani, citing suspicion of him of committing a criminal offense under Article 215, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code. The department confirmed that Lazarov was officially taken into custody and transported to the Police Station in Kisela Voda to undergo further legal procedures.
The arrest marks the conclusion of an international pursuit regarding drug-related charges. The MUP provided details regarding the successful operation, confirming that the suspect was apprehended after evading law enforcement efforts.
