HEALTH IS WELL PROTECTED FOR 7.6% – over 8.1 billion dinars for improved health care

The Macedonian health care sector is set to receive significant financial backing, totaling over 573 million denars, alongside a noted elimination of the budget for 7.6% of certain expenditures. Despite this funding increase, the representation of the health care system within the overall state budget remains a patchy and marginal priority. According to Monika Trajanova, a representative from VMRO-DPMNE, the planned allocation for the health sector has substantially increased, rising from 7.566 million denars to over 8,139 million denars.

She characterized this shift as one of the most significant changes within the new budgetary reform. A substantial portion of these funds, amounting to 300 million denars, is earmarked for the Ministry of Health’s development programs. This funding is intended to facilitate new investment projects and support the modernization of the national health system.

Furthermore, over 60 million denars have been designated specifically for improving rates, general health services, medical equipment, and overall patient care. These allocations underscore a focus on strengthening the infrastructure and quality of public health services across the country.
