MUP: The number of fatalities in the “Pobeda” incident has been reduced by 40%

Since the implementation of the “Safe City” system began in February, authorities have reported a significant decline in traffic-related fatalities. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), the number of deaths recorded by the end of June showed a 40% reduction compared to previous periods. The MUP stated that during the real operational period, 55 deaths were recorded, contrasting with a figure of 34 deaths noted in the year-to-date comparison.

The deployment of the system has facilitated the identification of over 130,000 suspicious incidents, with more than 95% of these events reported directly to the police. Officials from the MUP emphasized that the data suggests the primary risk to citizens stems from irresponsible driving practices rather than the surveillance technology itself. The MUP confirmed that the rollout of this safety system will continue across the entire country.

According to departmental statements, the core objective of the initiative is not to increase the number of criminal charges, but rather to actively reduce the overall number of unsafe deaths and enhance public safety. The focus remains squarely on life preservation and community protection through improved awareness and infrastructure.
