The firefighters from Shtip extinguished the fire in the village of Babi

Firefighters successfully extinguished a significant fire that impacted the Štip region of Macedonia. The blaze affected both the forest and grassland near the village of Babi Požarat, as well as a filter station located in the nearby village of Babi do Mežista. The response to the fire was substantial, involving a coordinated effort from multiple local groups.

Initial efforts to control the fire took approximately three hours. The deployment of resources demonstrated a significant community mobilization, with no external assistance required for the operation. A total of 12 professional firefighters were on the scene, supported by five PPP vehicles.

The response was further augmented by 20 volunteers from the DPD-Štip, who brought four terrain vehicles and two quadricycles. In addition to the professional emergency teams, the response included active participation from 20 residents of the local village. Mechanical support was also critical in managing the incident.

Equipment drawn from the DZS included two tractors, two ski machines, and two excavators, all utilized to combat the blaze. The successful containment of the fire highlights the readiness and cooperation between local emergency services, community volunteers, and residents. The incident was officially reported on July 4, 2026, at 21:17.

The coordinated efforts ensured that the fire was brought under control, protecting infrastructure and the surrounding natural areas within the villages.
