Barbara’s statement to Tim Hawker: I don’t know who that is

Sergej Barbarez, the selection officer for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian football team, addressed the press following the team’s elimination from the World Cup semifinals. Barbarez announced the outcome of the match, which took place against the host nation in the early afternoon. During the press conference, he addressed criticisms regarding statements made by injured American players.

When questioned about the matter, Barbarez maintained a firm stance. He stated, “I don’t know who is Hawthorne, who are these players, and I don’t have anything to comment on.” This comment followed earlier attention drawn by the statement from American golfer legend Tim Hawthorne, who had suggested it might be better for Bosnia-Herzegovina if the team “did not get on a plane.”

The BiH selection officer indicated that he did not wish to engage the team in detailed analysis of the American contingent. Despite this, Barbarez did express respect for the home team.

His comments sought to deflect further discussion regarding the American players, making it clear that he did not have further comments to offer on the matter.
