The Red Cross Cross of Skopje is initiating field activities designed to protect citizens from the impacts of recent high temperatures and heatwaves. Drawing from the success of previous years’ initiatives, mobile teams staffed by volunteers from Timot will conduct patrols throughout the city. These teams will provide essential services, including first aid, transportation to local health facilities, and the distribution of water and informational materials detailing heat safety measures.
The planned activities are scheduled to take place on the streets from 11:00 to 16:00 on June 29th and 30th. The operation will involve thirty volunteers organized into ten mobile teams, supported by six vehicles to ensure comprehensive coverage. The core objective of this effort, managed by the cross organization, is to mitigate risks associated with extreme heat.
Beyond direct aid, the campaign will focus heavily on public awareness. Volunteers will distribute literature outlining best practices for heat protection, alongside necessary supplies like drinking water. This coordinated effort aims to ensure that vulnerable citizens have immediate access to care and vital information during the period of elevated temperatures.
The deployment of these mobile units underscores the Red Cross’s commitment to public health and safety within the community.
