The prosecution doubts that the death of the woman in Taor is violent

The investigation surrounding the death of a woman in the village of Letevci, near Leskovac, has seen developments reported by the public prosecutor’s office. Initially, the matter was treated as a missing person case, and reports indicated that the initial assessment regarding the nature of the woman’s death was inconclusive. The official communication, shared by the prosecution on June 28, 2026, detailed the timeline of events following the discovery of the deceased woman’s body.

Although the primary prosecution offices are located in Skopje, the incident occurred in the village of Letevci. Subsequently, the public prosecutor issued a formal regulation concerning the burial of the body. This directive confirmed that the authorities now consider the death to be an act of violence.

Following this confirmation, the investigation escalated into a criminal case. As part of the ensuing legal action, the husband of the woman has been detained under suspicion of involvement. Furthermore, three other relatives of the victim have also been taken into custody by authorities.

The prosecution is now managing the formal proceedings related to the violent nature of the death and the subsequent arrests. These actions signal a shift from a missing persons inquiry to a formal criminal investigation involving multiple family members.
