Struga Poetry Evenings Commence with Focus on Dutch Poet
The 65th edition of the Struga Poetry Evenings began on June 24, 2026, in Struga, North Macedonia, with a traditional opening ceremony in the Parkot of Poetry. The event, honoring the 2026 Golden Vineet, will feature readings by Dutch poet Anke Braasinger. The festival’s official launch will take place this evening, including the lighting of the festival torch and a reading of Konstantinova’s “T’ga for the south” within the Domot of Poetry.
Following this, attendees will participate in a poets’ reading titled “Meridiani,” hosted by Meљuvrstansko. “Where does the poetry live” has been designated as the annual motto for the event, which will run until June 29th. The Struga Poetry Evenings are being held under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Gordana Siliçanska Dačkova, and are financed by the Ministry of Culture.
This year’s gathering promises to continue Struga’s long-standing tradition of celebrating and showcasing international poetry. The evening events are scheduled to take place in the Parkot of Struga, marking a significant cultural moment for the region.
