Three Fires Remain Active Following Multiple Wildfires in North Macedonia

June 21, 2026 – As of 19:10 today, three fires remain active across North Macedonia, following a period of intense wildfire activity. A total of 17 open-air fires were reported throughout the day. The fires were concentrated in three distinct locations.

Currently, three fires are still being actively fought, while fourteen have been successfully extinguished. The affected areas include the village of Aračinovo, within the Opština Aračinovo, characterized by waste storage depots. Another active fire is located in Grčeč, within the Opština Saraj, an area featuring low vegetation and a mixed forest.

The third ongoing fire is situated in Čenart, within the Opština Centar, an area dominated by low vegetation. Efforts to contain the blazes have focused on specific locations: Bosilovo, Opština Bosilovo (adjacent to a waste depot); Bansko, Opština Strumica (near a depot); Zubovče, Opština Kumanovo (in an area of low vegetation); Sredorek Street, Opština Kumanovo (in undergrowth); and Pčinj village. Fire crews are continuing to monitor and manage the situation, with ongoing assessments of the three active fires.
