ITNA in Macedonia Undergoes Staff Transformation
The medical staff of the Institute for Emergency Medical Services of North Macedonia (ITNA) has undergone a significant restructuring, marking a shift in its operational model. The change sees a move instead of traditional doctors, with trained paramedics now forming the core of the institute’s personnel. According to Minister of Health statements reported by 4news.mk, this reform addresses a longstanding shortage of medical staff within Macedonian hospitals.
The initiative aims to align the country’s healthcare system with international standards and those prevalent in Europe. The transformation involves paramedics, who have completed three-year specialized training programs, taking a leading role. This approach reflects a broader strategy to optimize resource allocation and support specialized medical roles.
“We don’t start from zero, we take good practices from the countries,” the Minister stated. “In the world, you can’t see a doctor who works in Baza help. But we have paramedics, so doctors can go to health institutions, specializations and focus on complex medical needs.”
The shift reflects a deliberate effort to modernize the ITNA’s capabilities and contribute to a more efficient and responsive healthcare system across Macedonia.
