North Macedonia Calls for European Support to Address Historical Injustices

Strumica, North Macedonia – During a visit to the reconstructed Opšta bolnica in Strumica, North Macedonian Minister Christian Mitkoski emphasized the critical need for European support to rectify past injustices affecting the country. Mitkoski stated that European credibility hinges on addressing these issues within the framework of North Macedonia’s path toward EU membership. The minister highlighted the significance of the bilateral protocols, asserting that their inclusion as a formal component is essential to the North Macedonian-European Union framework.

He specifically called upon European ambassadors to actively support this approach. “The European ambassadors must support it and the amalgamation in the bilateral protocols should be considered a formal component of the framework of the North Macedonia European Union,” Mitkoski stated. Drawing a historical parallel, Mitkoski referenced the foundational principles established by Robert Schuman, Konrad Adenauer, and Alcide de Gasperi, advocating for a commitment to upholding European standards and ensuring a just and equitable process for North Macedonia’s integration.

The minister’s comments underscore the ongoing importance of European support in navigating this critical juncture.
