Social networks have become an extreme danger for the education and mental health of minors who use them without any measure of restriction and critical scrutiny of what is good and what is not, becoming blind followers of unknown and unreliable ideas and information. Europe, the Council of Europe and the OSCE are determined to stand up to that danger. The main legal and regulatory provisions related to the use of social networks by minors are not directed at the children themselves; instead, enormous financial and operational provisions are being levied against the social media corporations for the protection of minors who use them, along with criminal provisions for those who exploit minors on the Internet.
