Macedonian Citizen Arrested in Albania Following Drug Discovery
Elbasan, Albania – A 32-year-old Macedonian citizen has been arrested in Albania following the discovery of one kilogram of heroin at a police checkpoint. The incident occurred as Albanian police investigated suspected cross-border smuggling operations. The arrest took place at the Bulqiza-Librajd checkpoint, where police stopped a vehicle traveling between Macedonia and Albania.
During a routine check, officers discovered the narcotics concealed within one of the vehicle’s tires. Alongside the Macedonian driver, L.G., from Struga, the police also arrested 45-year-old Albanian citizen A.B., from Drach. Investigations revealed that the operation was conducted by the Bulqiza-Librajd police unit, known for its regular checkpoint activities.
The seized heroin is currently being processed. Both the Macedonian and Albanian nationals are in police custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the discovery and the individuals involved.
