Police Seize Drug Shipment Following Investigation at Post Office
Local police have concluded an investigation following the seizure of a significant drug shipment originating from France. Authorities stopped the case involving a resident of Santo Domingo (SAD) who illegally imported postal packages into the country. The incident began when postal staff at a local post office identified suspicious items within several packages delivered from France.
A specialized scanner was deployed to screen the packages for illicit substances, prompting the immediate dispatch of a mobile police team and a police dog unit to the scene. Subsequent forensic testing of the four packages revealed the presence of multiple drugs. The quantities seized included 12.5 grams of methamphetamine, 20 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), and 8 grams of cocaine.
The investigation was concluded with the handover of the case to the Department of Drugs for further analysis and prosecution. The police are continuing to investigate the source of the shipment and the individual involved in the illegal importation of the drug from France.
